New site
Decided to re-launch the personal site. I hadn't been keeping my old code base up to date. It was built on Strapi with a custom NextJS front-end. The site was a tad expensive to run. Hosting cost were almost $40 a month. Plus having to keep up with both change in Strapi and NextJS. I decided to simply things and found PayloadCMS They are also a headless CMS however with their beta 3.0 release they offer a template that bundles both a back-end and front-end. Making it a simple one repo to maintain and one thing to deploy. Using Railway for my hosting provider, along with this simple code base, I am able to drop my monthly bill down to $5 a month. Much more reasonable for a hobby personal site. With most of the work out of the way, using the pre-made template. I can focus on customizing the back-end, tweaking it for collection types that I want. Instead of spending lots of time coding out the basics. Still trying to decide what I want this to be, but having this template and with the flexibility of being able to add new things with some basic coding, I can make it almost anything.
